Focused on What Matters Most

Having Your Affairs in Order

Louisiana has unique rules for Powers of Attorney and Mandate documents. Kristy focuses on these documents every day, helping clients avoid costly mistakes and delays when time and clarity are critical.

Durable Power of Attorney

Ensure a trusted person can act on your behalf even if you become incapacitated. Kristy verifies identity, witnesses, and signatures so your durable mandate holds up when it’s needed most.

Ideal for: long‑term planning, elder care, and managing finances or property.

Conditional & Limited POA

Narrowly define when and how someone can act for you—such as during travel, for a single real estate closing, or for a specific transaction.

Ideal for: short‑term situations, property sales, and limited decision‑making authority.

Medical Power of Attorney

Clearly authorize someone you trust to make healthcare decisions if you cannot speak for yourself. Kristy is experienced working in hospitals and care facilities with families under pressure.

Ideal for: surgery, serious diagnoses, and end‑of‑life planning.

Last Will & Testament

A formal legal document that outlines exactly how you want your assets distributed. In Louisiana, having a Notary-executed Will ensures your final wishes are legally enforceable, helping your loved ones avoid the confusion, high costs, and delays of distributing your assets.

Ideal for: Individuals who want to protect their legacy and provide clear, legally-binding instructions to ensure a smooth transition of property.

Cash Sales of Property

A Louisiana legal document used to transfer real estate ownership instantly when a buyer pays the full purchase price without bank financing. Kristy can draft and execute this "Authentic Act," providing a fast, cost-effective, and legally binding alternative to a traditional title company closing.

Ideal for: private real estate transactions or family property transfers where the buyer pays in full.

Act of Donation of Property

A legal document used to gift property or assets to another person—most commonly between family members—without any money changing hands. As a Notary-drafted "Authentic Act," it officially transfers the title while ensuring the donation meets strict state requirements for validity and recordation.

Ideal for: Parents transferring land or homes to their children, or individuals looking to settle estate matters during their lifetime to avoid future succession hurdles.

Frequently Asked Questions

A quick guide to what’s required for your appointment and how Louisiana notary law works for these documents.

Important: Kristy Notary Services does not provide legal advice or draft documents. Please consult with an attorney if you need help choosing the right document language. Kristy’s role is to verify identity, witness signatures, and complete the notarial act in compliance with Louisiana law.

What should I bring to my Power of Attorney or Last Will and Testament appointment?

Each signer must bring a valid, unexpired government‑issued photo ID (such as a driver’s license, state ID, passport, or military ID). Please also bring the full document to be notarized or Kristy can draft this document for you. Any further questions or details can be discussed with Kristy prior to the appointment so everyone is familiar with what they will need.

Can Kristy draft or change my Power of Attorney and or My Last Will and Testament?

Yes, In the state of Louisiana a Commissioned Notary may draft or change legal Power of Attorney and or Last Will and Testaments.

Do all signers need to be present at the same time?

Not Always, Depending on the document and how it is prepared in advance, some signatures can be done separately. This will need to be discussed with Kristy prior to any signing.

How much notice do you need for mobile appointments?

Same‑day and next‑day appointments are often possible, especially for urgent medical or hospital situations. However, availability depends on location and time of day. The more notice you provide, the easier it is to secure your preferred time and minimize travel fees.

Do you offer remote online notarization?

No. In Louisiana, a RON (Remote Online Notarization) Notary is a specially commissioned official who can notarize documents legally over the internet using live audio-video technology. Kristy is not currently certified to perform these.

Do I need a notary to buy or sell a Vehicle, Boat, Trailer (something that has a title)?

Yes. In Louisiana, a notary isn't just a "good idea" for a car sale—it is actually a legal requirement to complete the title transfer. A notary needs to be contacted prior to anyone signing the title. Unlike many other states where you can just sign the back of the title and hand it over, Louisiana law is much stricter. This also applies to all moveables with a title.
